Lace Up!
Roller skaters with outfits inspired by different seasons lacing up their boots to skate all year long.
Visual Development
Before hitting top speeds on wheels, there is a beauty to the slow movement of lacing up your boots. The anticipation, the sensation, the fashion! I captured this joy in four portraits with color palettes inspired by the four seasons. I also animated these vector-based art prints to promote on Instagram.
Using Blender's Grease pencil tool, I planned arm movements of the lace tying simulation. I adopted loose frames from that process and produced a high quality pass in After Effects with imported Illustrator vector drawings.
